Logimar CEO Marcello Saponaro was interviewd by Project Cargo Weekly

Q: First of all Marcello, please tell our readers about your own shipping and logistics background. When did you start in this line of business, and what is your current role(s) in shipping & networking? A: I always say that despite suffering from the Peter Pan Syndrome, I have been in this business for a little less than 30 years. More than 10 years ago, in Logimar, we decided to focus the company on Project Cargo, and 6 years ago we founded Africa Logistics Network. A few months ago, together with a partner, Juergen Weyhausen, CEO of 7WL, we also founded Exclusive Project Network.I think these are the huge niches in which we had to specialize, and we did.(…)More on Project Cargo Weekly website

LOGIMAR PROMOTES “EXCLUSIVE PROJECT NETWORK”

Logimar promotes a worldwide organization of Freight Forwarders specialized in Project Cargo Monday 10 May 2021 – For the second time Logimar promotes a network of international Freight Forwarders, after Africa Logistics Network which was born in Bergamo in 2015 and counts now 240 members, 90 of which are in Africa and it is the only forwarder network worldwide that offers 100% coverage in Africa. Exclusive Project Network is willing to put together forwarders who are specialized in exceptional transports, in Project Cargo and in general, in any non “standard” transport by sea, land or air. It is going to be an exclusive network that will accept only one member per Country. Logimar will be the member for Italy whereas in Germany, there will be the partner of Logimar, the German company 7W Logistics whose office is in Bremen, in the north of the country. The company, which will be officially created on the next 27th of May by a Notary of Frankfurt, will be incorporated under German law and will have its legal office in Bremen and in Bergamo. There are already existing networks dedicated to Project Cargo all over the world, what makes EPN different from the others?…

Destination: somewhere in the desert in the centre of Niger, 1000 km from Niamey, 1800 km from the port of Cotonou in Benin. Scope of the client: to build a modular base for an international organization. The shipments from Italy continued for 5 months until few times before the beginning of the lock down in February 2020. Shipments in break bulk and containers. From Italy to the port of Cotonou in Benin, where the agent of Logimar was handling the handling and the transports. A total of 170 trucks have been moved, without any transshipment and directly from the port to destination, not far away from Tchirozerine. The difficulty of the trip is due to the long distance to cover, a great part of which was in the desert on a road mapped out in the sand and for the last four/five hundred kilometres the path was uneven and with big potholes, also of 60 cm and the…

Logimar, shipping to Africa has never been so easy and safe. Interview of Africa e Affari to Marcello Saponaro, Logimar CEO. Published on October 2021 edition. Logimar is specialized in shipping goods and can do so also in a complex context as Africa. This is a specialization which took us years to have and which few companies have. For this company from Bergamo, everything started with a challenge and a bad experience. The challenge to grant the quality of the services and to be able to reach destinations in a continent which is becoming more and more important at an international level and thus for trade; the will to react against a negative episode – a wrong partner who costed time and money – by starting an initiative which later became the Africa Logistics Network, whose chairman is Marcello Saponaro who is also the CEO of Logimar. Let’s start with Logimar and the attention that you are paying to Africa. Why this choice? The job of the freight forwarder is changing, is becoming simpler and more standardised. However, there are some exceptions represented for example by Africa and by Project Cargo, by exceptional transports, the difficult things. Therefore, even if…
